A notorious transgender killer who was convicted for the sadistic 2004 murder of a couple onboard their yacht in California has been rewarded with a taxpayer-funded sex change operation while behind bars.

John Jacobson Jr. who goes by the name Skylar Deleon became known as the “Yacht Killer” for the slayings of 57-year-old Thomas Hawks and his 47-year-old wife Jackie who were tied to a boat anchor and tossed overboard after the convicted killer and his accomplices deceived the couple into boarding the 55-foot vessel under the pretense that they were interested in buying it.

Before they met their gruesome deaths after being subdued by getting zapped with a stun gun, the victims were forced to give up their bank account information and sign over the yacht with some believing that the money would be used for a sex change.

Deleon and friends then cold-bloodedly helped themselves to beers from the murdered couple’s fridge and enjoyed an afternoon of fishing.

“I wanted the surgery, and I knew I 100 percent wanted the surgery,” the killer told ABC News in 2009, informing the outlet that he wanted to be a woman so badly that he tried to sever his male member while in prison.

“This caper, this entire murder, this desire to get some wealth, to get some money, was to pay for that sex change,” Michael Molfetta, a defense attorney for Deleon’s wife said, according to ABC News.

Nearly two decades after the shocking slayings, Deleon who is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole, received the surgery with California taxpayers footing the bill, a policy supported by Democrat nominee Kamala Harris who in 2019 told the ACLU that she backs taxpayer-funded gender transition surgeries for migrant detainees and prisoners.

“I did receive gender-affirming surgery and breast augmentation on April 5th, 2023,” Deleon said in a letter to the Washington Free Beacon.

“California’s policy of providing hormone treatment for prison inmates who identify as transgender predated Harris’ 2010 election to state attorney general. Then during her time in office, the state’s prison system ramped up its gender-related surgical offerings to convicts, allowing the first inmate sex change in the country in 2015,” according to the New York Post.

The convicted killer’s letter was sent as a response to the WFB’s inquiry into his sex transition status. He/she is now waiting for a transfer out of San Quentin to a women’s prison.

“I should transfer fairly quickly but the prison makes us go to committee to determine whether or not [sic] which prison we go to even though I have had both surgeries,” Deleon wrote.

“I don’t know what right [Harris] had to decide that he gets surgeries now. I mean, why should they get all these benefits?” Gayle O’Neill, the mother of Jackie Hawks told the Free Beacon. “They killed people, right? Took people’s life. He killed my daughter and son-in-law, and now he gets what he wants.”
