Aaron and Kyle Baker of Vicksburg, Michigan were on their way to the hospital to deliver their third child on August 13 when Kyle realized the baby wasn’t going to wait.

So what did they do? They pulled over into a nearby parking lot, which just happened to be the couple’s favorite microbrewery, One Well Brewing.

Aaron called 911 but ultimately ended up being the one to deliver his first son after just one push while waiting for the ambulance to arrive.

Just a few hours after she gave birth in the One Well parking lot, Kyle sent her husband back to the brewery for nachos, which of course he obliged, and after explaining to the staff why an ambulance had been in their parking lot earlier in the evening, they offered the new dad a beer on the house.

It was really the least they could do.

The Bakers had opted to be surprised about the baby’s gender but had chosen the name Forrest for a boy. After his unexpected birth in the brewery parking lot, they decided to add the middle name, “Wells,” in honor of the brewery.

Kyle Baker, mother of baby Forrest, told MLive News,

We’ve been joking that Forrest just wanted to swing by for a quick beer on the way to the hospital, just like his dad would. When people first heard, everybody thought we were just sitting in here having a beer when I went into labor.

Now, more than a month after the exciting event, One Well Brewing invited Forrest Wells, his parents, and two older sisters back to the brewery to mix up a new signature brew.

A special microbrew in honor of baby Forrest!

It’ll be another 21 years before Forrest Wells is able to sample the blood-orange blonde ale for himself.

So I guess they’ll have to put a bottle in the cellar for the time being.
