Concerns over partisan bias were only exacerbated when political contributions from one scrutinized network’s executives were revealed.

Rivaling the revelation that NPR’s CEO found the First Amendment to be a “challenge,” CBS News was facing new levels of criticism in part for airing an edited clip of Vice President Kamala Harris’ “60 Minutes” interview.

As former President Donald Trump was among the many voices decrying the “Greatest Fraud in Broadcast History,” closer examination found that CBS News president and CEO Wendy McMahon had previously donated more than $6,000 toward then-former Vice President Joe Biden’s 2020 election effort.

A review of Federal Election Commission filings conducted by The Telegraph found that, when McMahon was still working as president in charge of digital content and product technology for ABC’s television stations, she had doled out $2,500 to Biden’s campaign, $2,500 to the Biden Victory Fund and around $1,100 to related fundraising efforts through ActBlue.

Along with McMahon’s contributions, CBS Entertainment Group CEO George Cheeks, who was co-chair of NBC Entertainment during the 2020 election, was said to have also donated hundreds to Biden’s campaign and other Democrats at the time.

The Telegraph noted that CBS News employees are banned from making political donations and that McMahon’s were made prior to joining the network. However, Cheeks was not restricted since he was not part of the news division.

In response to the blatant edit of Harris’ interview with CBS News correspondent Bill Whitaker, many had called for the release of the full, unedited transcript from the interview for the sake of transparency. Trump himself had suggested the network lose its license, contending the actions had been a blatant example of election interference.

He’d gone on to post to Truth Social Thursday, “60 Minutes is a major part of the News Organization of CBS, which has just created the Greatest Fraud in Broadcast History. CBS should lose its license, and it should be bid out to the Highest Bidder, as should all other Broadcast Licenses, because they are just as corrupt as CBS — and maybe even WORSE!”

“With me,” he went on, asserting the contrast, “60 Minutes does the exact opposite! They take everything I say, realize how totally BRILLIANT it is, and take it out. So, with Kamala they add, with ‘TRUMP,’ they delete. Like the Democrat Party, THEY ARE A THREAT TO DEMOCRACY!”

Meanwhile, the network’s response to “CBS Mornings” co-host Tony Dokoupil posing tough questions to activist author Ta-Nehisi Coates found him rebuked while co-host Gayle King was not similarly chided for reportedly feeding questions to the guest in advance of his appearance on their program.

Under the scrutiny, CBS News hadn’t appeared to change its ways as a Friday headline read, “Donald Trump wants to make auto loan interest tax-deductible. It would mostly help the rich, experts say,” leading RedState writer Bonchie to react, “Yes, because it’s the rich who take out auto loans. Never change, CBS News.”
