During a White House briefing on hurricanes Helene and Milton on Friday, President Biden snapped back with “I know” after Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm gently reminded him that it was Vice President Kamala Harris’s turn to speak.

Harris, 59, joined the virtual briefing, and as Biden, 81, began to wind down his remarks, Granholm prompted him to transition the discussion to Harris.

“I think we’ve saved lives, not me, but we, all of those folks out in the field have saved lives, but there’s more to do, and I’m going to do everything in my power to get it done,” said Biden as he flipped to the last page of his binder.

Granholm, 65, seemed to notice that the president had finished his prepared remarks, but she continued speaking, according to the New York Post.

“The fact of the matter is that we’re in a situation where – uh – well, we’re gonna have to …”  Biden rambled before the energy secretary, seated to Biden’s left, tapped him on the arm and pointed toward Harris on the monitor.

“I know,” Biden responded. “I’m going to go to the vice president in a second.”  He then joked about Granholm, “She’s my boss.

As Biden continued, he was interrupted one more time — by Harris.

“Hang on one second, Madame Vice President,” Biden interjected.

After announcing that his administration would request additional funds from Congress for hurricane recovery efforts, Biden finally passed the floor to Harris.

So with that, I’ll yield to the president — I mean the vice president,” Biden said as Cabinet members laughed.

According to NBC News, Biden has been privately expressing to his allies that Harris and the Democratic Party seem to have “moved on from him” since he withdrew from the 2024 race in July.

The president is reportedly upset that Harris is not sufficiently highlighting his accomplishments and policies during the campaign trail, as she works to differentiate herself from the president, The Post noted.

“He’s angry, he’s angry at her,” Trump mused at a campaign rally earlier this week, predicting that “there’s going to be an explosion before the election” between the president and his second-in-command.

Earlier this week, former President Barack Obama was critical of black men who have refused to support Harris while going so far as to suggest that sexism might be a factor.

Hours before his first campaign rally for the Democratic nominee, Obama made an unplanned visit to a Harris campaign field office in Pittsburgh. There, he stated his intention to “speak some truths” and specifically address Black men, delivering his most direct comments yet regarding their reluctance to support Harris to date, the Washington Post reported.

“My understanding, based on reports I’m getting from campaigns and communities, is that we have not yet seen the same kinds of energy and turnout in all quarters of our neighborhoods and communities as we saw when I was running,” Obama said, adding that it “seems to be more pronounced with the brothers.”

Obama questioned why voters, especially black voters, remain undecided about supporting Harris or the Republican nominee, former President Donald Trump, the Post noted further.

“On the one hand, you have somebody who grew up like you, knows you, went to college with you, understands the struggles and pain and joy that comes from those experiences,” Obama said, recounting a list of Harris’s flip-flop policy proposals. In Trump, he falsely claimed, “you have someone who has consistently shown disregard, not just for the communities, but for you as a person … And you are thinking about sitting out?”

The former president then discussed what he believed was causing black men’s lukewarm support for Harris, suggesting that some were uncomfortable with the idea of electing the first female president, the Post noted.

“And you’re coming up with all kinds of reasons and excuses. I’ve got a problem with that,” he said. “Because part of it makes me think — and I’m speaking to men directly — part of it makes me think that, well, you just aren’t feeling the idea of having a woman as president, and you’re coming up with other alternatives and other reasons for that.”
