A New York Times bestselling author who wrote mystery stories was arrested this summer for possessing child pornography, according to reports. 

A grand jury in Rockingham County, New Hampshire, returned indictments on six felony counts against author Brendan DuBois earlier this week.

Court records show he turned himself into the police in July and will be arraigned Oct. 23, according to The Associated Press. 

A criminal complaint cited by Foster’s Daily Democrat states that DuBois “did knowingly possess at least 35 visual representations of children engaging in sexually explicit conduct.”

A police affidavit filed by Exeter police Detective Bailey Teixeira said DuBois had multiple items seized from his home in May as part of an investigation after a tip was filed to the police in March by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.  

The affidavit said that more than 5,600 images on the computer were flagged as being “possible child abuse content” though it only provided detail on 20 of them.

DuBois has written 29 novels including several co-written with well known author James Patterson, described by Foster’s Daily Democrat as being DuBois’s “mentor and ‘the most published author in the world.'”
