Bob Woodward is out with a new book just in time for the election and leftists pounced over the elitist media’s favorite scribe alleging that former President Donald J. Trump has talked to Vladimir Putin since he left office.

The octogenarian Washington Post legend cited one of the usual anonymous sources to make the explosive claim that once again resurrects the Russiagate zombie just in time for Halloween.

According to excerpts published by CNN, Trump has spoken to the Russian leader “maybe as many as seven” times since 2021, a claim that regime media will amplify in the coming weeks now that the Kamala Harris “joy” bubble has burst. Woodward’s source is reportedly a former “aide” to Trump.

Harris jumped at the opportunity to change the subject from her dismal response to Hurricane Helene and the fight that she has picked with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis who has another monster hurricane bearing down on one of his state’s most densely populated areas.

“I believe that Donald Trump has this desire to be a dictator,” the veep said during an interview with shock jock Howard Stern, one of several she is doing with friendly outlets this week. “He admires strong men, and he gets played by them because he thinks that they’re his friends. They are manipulating him full time and manipulating him by flattery and with favor.”

“Tampon Tim” Walz is also leaning heavily into the likely concocted Trump-Putin calls, happy to discuss anything but his running mate’s actual record.

The media is doing their part but Trump’s running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) wasn’t playing the game.

“I honestly didn’t know that Bob Woodward was still alive until you just asked me that question, and that’s – what little I know about Bob Woodward is that he is — I’m going to use I’m gonna use a word here. He is a hack. The guy is a hack. So have I talked to Donald Trump about his calls with Vladimir Putin? No. I’ve never had that conversation with Donald Trump in my life,” Vance responded when ambushed with a question on the claim during a Tuesday campaign event in Detroit.

“But if Donald Trump — even if it’s true, look, is there something wrong with speaking to world leaders?” Vance added. “No. Is there anything wrong with engaging in diplomacy? Kamala Harris’s approach has been to hide in a basement, hide from the American people, and hide from world leaders. And you know what that’s gotten us? We are on the verge of World War III. It’s a disgrace and it’s a complete failure of a foreign policy.”

Reagan met with Gorbachev and Nixon went to China in two of the historic examples of American leaders engaging with adversaries, something that used to be known as diplomacy.

The New York Times says it all: “While other journalists were not able to confirm the post-White House contacts on Tuesday, the report roiled the presidential campaign and set Washington buzzing.”

Trump campaign Communications Director Steven Cheung reacted, calling the allegation, “The work of a truly demented and deranged man who suffers from a debilitating case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
