The University System of Georgia Board of Regents is asking the NCAA and the National Junior College Athletic Association to ban transgender women from participating in women’s college sports.

The board, which represents Georgia’s 26 public universities, voted unanimously on the request for the ban. 

The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) voted two years ago to require student athletes to participate in high school sports based on their birth gender.

The GOP-led House voted in July to ban biological men from completing in women’s sports. The resolution that passed would overturn President Joe Biden’s Title IX changes that would permit biological men who identify as females to receive the benefits provided to biological females at public universities.
