The fallout from the vice president’s bumbling display on “60 Minutes” found one moment in particular struck from the record, prompting calls for a release of the full, unedited interview.

“What do they, and Kamala, have to hide?”

As Election Day draws to within four weeks, Vice President Kamala Harris embarked on a weeklong media circuit, appearing in what were expected to be safe spaces. While CBS News correspondent Bill Whitaker defied that premise with his “real world” pushback on non-answers and platitudes, someone at the network appeared to have run cover, splicing out the White House hopeful’s originally aired response to a question on Israel.

During the production that aired on Monday, after Whitaker said, “It seems like [Israeli] Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not listening,” Harris replied, “We are not going to stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on the need for this war to end.”

However, that was hardly the word salad that aired during a preview for the interview on “Face the Nation” as many had already witnessed the vice president respond, “Well, Bill, the work that we have done has resulted in a number of movements in that region by Israel that were very much prompted by, or as a result of, many things including our advocacy for what needs to happen in the region.”

The deceptive edit had many wondering if the replacement remark was part of what she had said later on in her answer or if the network had gone ahead and pieced together questions and answers that would present the vice president in the best light.

Amid the speculation, Karoline Leavitt, the national press secretary for former President Donald Trump’s campaign, released a statement demanding an explanation and transparency. “On Sunday, 60 Minutes teased Kamala’s highly-anticipated sit-down interview with one of her worst word salads to date, which received significant criticism on social media. During the full interview on Monday evening, the word salad was deceptively edited to lessen Kamala’s idiotic response.”

“Why did 60 Minutes choose not to air Kamala’s full word salad, and what else did they choose not to air? The American people deserve the full, unedited transcript from Kamala’s sit-down interview. We call upon 60 Minutes and CBS to release it,” she continued. “What do they, and Kamala, have to hide?”

In the meantime, users on social media sounded off asserting propaganda was at play from the higher-ups after Whitaker had done an admirable job letting Harris show her own shortcomings.

Trump reacted to the interview with “Comrade Kamala Harris” and said in part on Truth Social it was “considered by many of those who reviewed it, the WORST Interview they have ever seen. She literally had no idea what she was talking about, and it was an embarrassment to our Country that a Major Party Candidate would be so completely inept.”
