Denials from Vice President Kamala Harris’ husband on allegedly assaulting his ex were met with an explanation beyond the election implications as to why the story was run and how “it all added up.”

Forced to confront a report that an affair during his first marriage had resulted in his impregnating his children’s nanny, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff embarked on an image campaign aided by corporate media to appear as a “feminist ally.”

That, according to Daily Mail senior reporter Josh Boswell, was precisely why friends of Harris’ husband’s ex-girlfriend had come forward with corroborating stories on a 2012 incident where he’d allegedly struck the woman, using the pseudonym Jane, so hard, “she spun around.”

Joining Fox News’ Jesse Watters Friday on “Jesse Watters Primetime,” the reporter explained his ongoing investigation of Emhoff, “The process that I went through was extremely thorough and careful about this, because you’re right, we’re on the eve of an election, but the thing that made these sources come forward is not because there’s an election, but because the Kamala Harris campaign was using Doug Emhoff, showing him as this feminist ally, baking up his credentials as an ally to women and that just enraged them.”

“I quoted one of them in the piece saying this, that she thought that it was disgusting, that they were portraying him this way, when in fact, these friends knew what had really happened,” said Boswell.

The Mail reporter elaborated on the details that the sources had recounted, including how after Emhoff was said to have struck Jane, allegedly for flirting with a valet following an event at the May 2012 Cannes Film Festival, he hadn’t apologized but instead made a tennis reference.

“You got one down the line and across the court,” the entertainment attorney had reportedly said of Jane retaliating. “So, it’s no big deal.”

Boswell coupled the accounts from the friends with records about their flight itineraries and emails and explained, “It all added up with what each of the sources were saying. Those sources were each independently talking to us and their accounts closely corroborated each other. So that’s part of what gave me the confidence in this story.”

As had been reported, the allegations followed an interview with Emhoff by former White House press secretary Jen Psaki on MSNBC where she’d pitched, “Something that’s also been an important part, or an interesting part of how people have talked about your role here, is how your role has reshaped the perception of masculinity. I’m not sure you planned on that but you are an incredibly supportive spouse. Has that been an evolution for you? Do you think that’s part of the role you might play as a first gentleman?”

In response, Emhoff had contended, “It’s funny. I’ve started to think a lot about this. I’ve always been like this, my dad was like this, and to me, it’s the right thing to do, support women.”

Following the report from the Mail, an unnamed representative for the second gentleman told Semafor, “This report is untrue. Any suggestion that he would or has ever hit a woman is false.”

Boswell himself told Watters that the Mail had heard nothing from Emhoff, Harris’ campaign or the White House, even though they had approached the administration on Monday, two days prior to publication to provide them with an opportunity to respond to the allegations.

Meanwhile, RedState has reportedly been told by officers from the Los Angeles Police Department that in 2009, when Emhoff’s nanny, Najen Naylor, was pregnant, police had been dispatched to a domestic violence call “related to Emhoff and Naylor.”

The incident was said to have occurred less than two months after Emhoff and his then-wife Kersten had separated and weeks after she had filed for divorce. The LAPD would not disclose the names of the individuals involved in the incident labeled as “unknown trouble.”
