Singer-songwriter Jon Kahn sat down with Fox News @ Night host Trace Gallagher to discuss the inspiration behind his viral pro-Trump song “Fighter.”

“I’ve been down,  counted out, smiling through the taste of blood in my own mouth,” the song’s lyrics read. “I hit harder when I’m tired — I’m a fighter.”

Gallagher began by pointing out that while people think it was written in the wake of the failed assassination attempts against Trump, that was not the case.

“That’s a misconception about the song,” Kahn explained. “What it was, was I along with millions of Americans, have seen what President Trump has faced since he was elected — two impeachments, de-platforming from social media, lawfare, raid on Mar-a-Lago. For me, I was watching Fox News and watching the bogus conviction in New York and the way he walked up to the microphone after that — he’s got that walk that says everything’s going to be okay. You can throw whatever you want at me but I’m not going anywhere.”

“I shook my head and thought how does this man get out of bed every day,” he continued. “And I walked over to my piano, I played a few cords, came up with the melody and a title, and brought it to Nashville and cowrote it with an amazing songwriter.”

Gallagher cited a quote from Kahn about any backlash over the song, “If he can take a bullet I can write a song.”

“If President Trump can withstand — and this was before two assassination attempts and a debate that was three-on-one — I think his supporters owe him to do whatever they can,” the singer-songwriter said. “And for me, I was fortunate enough to be able to write the song.”

Reminded that the song was #1 on Billboard digital sales, Kahn said he was “very proud.”

“I’m just very honored that people are sharing the song and the video because it shows him in a light that the establishment and media is trying so hard not to,” he said.

As for his view of Trump, Kahn said: “I’ve never seen any men have to deal with what he’s had to deal with… you have to soul search and think what do you want in your leader. And I want someone who wants to fight.”

When asked what’s next, he replied, “I’ve been exploring faith a little bit later in life and I’ve got a song on deck that hopefully people will hear soon.”
