Elon Musk announced on his free speech platform X that he will be on hand Saturday when former President Donald Trump returns to Butler, Pennsylvania, the site where he nearly lost his life.

The 2024 Republican nominee will hold a rally in Butler, where a would-be assassin was inexplicably able to set up on a rooftop some 130 yards away from Trump with a clear line of sight. The 20-year-old shooter got off multiple shots, striking Trump in the ear with one of those shots before a counter-sniper took him out.

The SpaceX founder responded to a post from Trump about his “historic” return that included the iconic photo taken right after he was shot, “I will be there to support!”

Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said the former president “looks forward to returning to Butler, Pennsylvania to honor the victims from that tragic day.”

“The willingness of Pennsylvanians to join President Trump in his return to Butler represents the strength and resiliency of the American people,” Leavitt added.

Former fire chief Corey Comperatore, an avid Trump supporter, died in the shooting, and two other people were injured.

The candidate offered his own explanation of why he was returning in an interview with News Nation.

“I’m going back to Butler because I feel I have an obligation to go back to Butler. We never finished what we were supposed to do — I said that day, when I was shot, I said we’re coming back. We’re coming back and I’m fulfilling a promise. I’m fulfilling really an obligation,” he said.

Given the scrutiny the Secret Service has been under since the failed attempt on Trump’s life in Butler and a second incident on a West Palm Beach golf course, the odds are favorable that the rooftop where Thomas Crooks set up a sniper’s nest will be covered this time around.

Musk has been very vocal in his support of Trump, arguing that the 2024 election may be the last competitive election in America if Trump does not prevail.

“This is the first time I have been active in an election because I believe the fate of America hangs in the balance,” Musk posted on X last month.

As for his reasoning, Musk has been raising the alarm almost singlehandedly about how Democrats are manipulating immigration to eliminate swing states and create one-party rule for America, just as they have done in California.

He posted in detail on this strategy again on Thursday:
