The Biden-Harris administration reportedly spent nearly $1 billion in disaster relief funds to take care of illegal aliens.

“The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) allocated nearly $364 million in the fiscal year 2023 and $650 million for the 2024 fiscal year to the ‘Shelter and Services Program’ ‘to provide humanitarian services to noncitizen migrants following their release from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS),’” The Federalist reported Tuesday.

This finding is especially pertinent right now because Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas just announced on Wednesday that FEMA lacks the funding to last through the remainder of the current hurricane season.

“We are meeting the immediate needs with the money that we have,” Mayorkas said, referencing FEMA’s response to Hurricane Helene. “We are expecting another hurricane hitting. We do not have the funds. FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the season.

This announcement from the DHS secretary prompted massive anger and backlash, with critics excoriating the Biden-Harris administration once again over its misplaced priorities.

According to America First Legal, over the last four years the Biden-Harris administration “has steadily transformed FEMA — the agency responsible for responding to natural disasters like Hurricane Helene — into an illegal alien resettlement agency that emphasizes DEI over public safety.”

It’s done this through the Emergency Food and Shelter Program, which is designed “to provide shelter, food, and supportive services to individuals and families who are experiencing, or at least of experiencing, hunger and/or homelessness.”

The problem is that the program is now authorized to also award money “for distribution to local social service organizations that provide humanitarian relief to families and individuals [i.e., criminal aliens] encountered by the Department of Homeland Security.”

Of the nearly $1 billion that has been allocated to take care of criminal aliens, $38 million was given to New York City — a sanctuary city that’s been using the money to gift aliens with free gift cards, hotel stays, and even cash money.

“The NYC Department of Homeless Services (DHS) offered 150 families cash assistance through the Asylee Moveout Assistance (AMA), a pilot created in December last year to help find permanent housing for asylum seekers,” Fox News reported last month.

“Eligibility for the $4000 grant is solely limited to asylum-seeking families and pregnant women who are residing in select DHS emergency shelters and have already identified permanent housing,” according to Fox News.
