Tucker Carlson posted new footage from the July 13 Butler, Pennsylvania, assassination attempt against Donald Trump, and it is shocking. Multiple attendees spot the shooter and yell that he had a gun, yet somehow the Secret Service didn’t take him out immediately.

This wasn’t a masterfully executed, brilliant plan carried out by a legendary assassin, it was some creepy guy on the roof in plain sight who never should have been allowed to get up there in the first place. The more we learn, the more astonishing it gets.

Watch as footage from multiple camera angles shows the terrified crowd pointing out the shooter, then ducking for cover as the shots ring out:

“He’s got a gun!” one witness yells. And yet, the wannabe assassin was able to get eight shots off, killing fireman Corey Comperatore and wounding two others—and of course, coming within millimeters of taking out the former president.

The scope of the security failure is almost impossible to believe.

The video is part of a new Carlson multi-part documentary called “Art of the Surge: the Donald Trump Comeback.” In Tucker’s preview, witnesses who were there on the ground describe what they experienced:

“How could a gun get in this secure area?” asks one man.

“Donald Trump was centimeters away from not being with us,” says Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL).

“God wants him alive,” another lady says.

As we all know, this was only the first assassination try against Trump; a second attempt was made by shooter Ryan Wesley Routh in September at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. Routh has pleaded not guilty and currently sits behind bars awaiting trial.

This new Butler footage adds to the growing image of the Secret Service as grossly incompetent on that day, to the point where it’s an absolute miracle that the former president survived. It’s terrifying to think of what would happen should a professional—say, an Iranian—tried to take down Trump. At least in July, it would have been all too easy.
