Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had the nerve on Wednesday to blame former President Donald Trump for Iran’s current strength on the global stage.

Appearing on CNN, she argued that Trump’s rejection of former President Barack Obama’s JCPOA nuclear deal with Iran is why the country feels so emboldened to act out now both directly and also via its proxies, Hamas and Hezbollah.

“Masterfully, President Obama had a plan to reduce the capacity of the Iranians to produce a nuclear weapon,” she said. “The next president in line, he came in and eliminated that unfortunately, because now Iran is on a path again for enriching uranium or fully taking it closer to having the capacity for a weapon. I don’t know how close they are to that, and if I did, I wouldn’t say.”

“So again, we want to avoid a bigger war. We do know that Hezbollah and Hamas are proxies for Iran. They are the troublemakers in the region. The fact that Israel was attacked with 200 ballistic missiles coming into Israel, thank God without any major effect, shows they must be stopped. But I don’t think we should get into an open discussion now as to how we deal with their nuclear. Again we had a plan to do that. I think that there are other countries, as we had said before, who had worked together to do that. But the reason that they are in the strong position they are today nuclear-wise is because of the failed policy of Donald Trump,” she added.

This isn’t the first that Democrats have tried to blame their own policy failures with respect to Iran on Trump. The Biden-Harris administration pulled the same stunt in 2022 when then-White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki blamed Iran’s aggression on you know who.

“None of the things we’re looking at now — Iran’s increased capability and capacity, the aggressive actions that they have taken through proxy wars around the world — would be happening if the former president had not recklessly pulled out of the nuclear deal with no thought as to what might come next,” she said at the time.

But according to congressional Republicans, Trump’s critics, including Pelosi and Psaki, are absolutely full of it.

Sen. Rick Scott explained it best in a tweet published Tuesday, the day Iran pummeled Israel with hundreds of rocket attacks.

“Four years ago, Iran was weak, broke and powerless,” the senator wrote. “Today, after years of appeasement from the Biden-Harris admin that has given it access to billions of dollars, we watch in horror as the evil Iranian regime terrorizes Israel with waves of missile attacks.”

In a Twitter/X post of his own, House GOP chief deputy whip Guy Reschethaler concurred with Scott.

“How did we get to this place of constant chaos across the world?” he wrote. “Through President Biden and Vice President Harris’s tenure of weakness and appeasement.”

Rep. Rick McCormick likewise explained in a tweet that the Biden-Harris administration has emboldened Iran by removing Trump-era sanctions and leaving “behind billions of dollars worth of weapons for Iran after the botched Afghanistan withdrawal.”

“Their actions are what have emboldened the terrorist regime of Iran to run wild in the Middle East and attack America’s allies. It’s time to show strength,” he added.
