It’s official — Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance destroyed Democrat vice presidential candidate Tim Walz.

The destruction during Tuesday’s debate happened in part because of Vance’s spot-on, substantive performance, but also in part because of Walz’s absurd, cringe, and just plain weird performance.

Take for instance when Walz proclaimed that he’s become friends with school shooters when asked why he’s changed his position on an “assault weapons” ban.

Some believe Walz simply misspoke and had meant to say he’s become friends with the victims of school shooters. However, even these critics had plenty else to say about his performance.

“Walz saying he’s become friends with school shooters when he meant victims, is an innocent misstatement,” Fox News contributor Guy Benson said. “Repeatedly lying about his military rank, his DUI, IVF and Hong Kong/Tiananmen Square are not innocent misstatements.”

Former President Donald Trump later took advantage of Walz’s ridiculous statement to put out a hilarious campaign meme on Truth Social.

Trump also asked, “Is he [Walz] insane?

Journalist Andy Ngo meanwhile labeled it the “gaffe of the 2024 election.”

Elsewhere in the debate, Walz was asked about why he’d lied about being in Hong Kong during the Tiananmen Square incident. He responded with a word salad that ended with him admitting he was a knucklehead.

“Look, I will be the first to tell you I have poured my heart into my community,” he said. “I’ve tried to do the best I can, but I’ve not been perfect, and I’m a knucklehead at times, but it’s always been about that those same people elected me to Congress for 12 years.”

This too prompted laughter, mockery, and criticism, with Trump again posting a hilarious meme.

Twitter/X users also got in on the mockery.

At one point during the debate, Vance sought to conduct a fact-check of his own about the supposed “legal” Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio but was cut off by the moderators.

“The rules were that you guys were going to fact-check, and since you’re fact-checking me, I think it’s important to say what’s actually going on,” Vance began. “So there’s an application called the CBP One app where you can go on as an illegal migrant, apply for asylum, or apply for parole and be granted legal status at the wave of a Kamala Harris open border wand. That is not a person coming in, applying for a green card, and waiting for ten years.”

“That is the facilitation of illegal immigration by our own leadership. And Kamala Harris opened up that pathway,” he added before being cut off.

“Gentlemen, the audience can’t hear you because your mics are cut,” one of the moderators said. “We have so much we want to get to. Thank you for explaining the legal process.”

Critics were not pleased:

Overall, Vance definitely outperformed Walz, and even TV news’ most left-wing hosts agreed.
