The Trump campaign released a statement Tuesday saying former President Donald Trump was briefed by U.S. intelligence officials about “real and specific threats from Iran to assassinate him in an effort to destabilize and sow chaos in the United States.”

“President Trump was briefed earlier today by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence regarding real and specific threats from Iran to assassinate him in an effort to destabilize and sow chaos in the United States,” Trump campaign Communications Director Steven Cheung said in the bulletin.

“Intelligence officials have identified that these continued and coordinated attacks have heightened in the past few months, and law enforcement officials across all agencies are working to ensure President Trump is protected and the election is free from interference,” Cheung continued. “Make no mistake, the terror regime in Iran loves the weakness of Kamala Harris, and is terrified of the strength and resolve of President Trump.”

“He will let nothing stop him or get in his way to fight for the American people and to Make America Great Again.”

The statement comes after two failed assassination attempts against Trump and after the FBI, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, and Office of the Director of National Intelligence announced that “malicious cyber actors” from Iran tried to distribute “stolen” information from the Trump campaign to associates of President Biden’s campaign and U.S. media organizations.

“Iranian malicious cyber actors in late June and early July sent unsolicited emails to individuals then associated with President Biden’s campaign that contained an excerpt taken from stolen, non-public material from former President Trump’s campaign as text in the emails,” the joint force said last week. “There is currently no information indicating those recipients replied. Furthermore, Iranian malicious cyber actors have continued their efforts since June to send stolen, non-public material associated with former President Trump’s campaign to U.S. media organizations.”

“This malicious cyber activity is the latest example of Iran’s multipronged approach, as noted in the joint August statement, to stoke discord and undermine confidence in our electoral process,” the FBI and CISA added.

Trump commented on the development in a post shared on X, saying Iran had “already” made moves and that the targeting of a former U.S. president is “a Death Wish for the attacker.”

“Big threats on my life by Iran. The entire U.S. Military is watching and waiting. Moves were already made by Iran that didn’t work out, but they will try again,” Trump said. “Not a good situation for anyone. I am surrounded by more men, guns, and weapons than I have ever seen before. Thank you to Congress for unanimously approving far more money to Secret Service – Zero ‘NO’ Votes, strictly bipartisan. Nice to see Republicans and Democrats get together on something. An attack on a former President is a Death Wish for the attacker!”

U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) said in an interview last week that there are currently five known assassination teams in the United States, “at least three of which are foreign that are out to kill Trump.”

Gaetz responded to the Trump campaign statement by saying, “This is one of the teams I’ve been talking about…”

What seems to be apparent is that Iran does not want to see Donald Trump back in the White House, which should inform voters on who is more feared as commander in chief. At the same time, skeptics on social media are more concerned about “deep state” efforts to prevent another Trump presidency.
