I really don’t know what else we’d expect from our friends in the pacific northwest, but Seattle seems to continue their efforts to become the worst-run city in America.

You know how you install a home security system with an alarm that warns intruders (and the police) that police are on the way? Well, in Seattle, the police have told the criminals they are NOT on the way.

Starting October 1st, (the Seattle Police) will no longer respond to burglary alarms from monitoring companies based only on motion or sensor activators.

According to the report, so many of these alerts (well over 90%) turned out to be false alarms in 2023, so they’re going to stop responding.

However, as the report also highlights, burglars were already one step ahead of the cops and this gives them an even greater advantage:

Woodman is concerned the police department’s new rules will backfire.

‘Unfortunately, a lot of those people doing the break-ins, they know they have time because police response is slow. If they find out that there is no police response, then the crime is going to go up significantly,’ said Woodman.

Why would you tell the criminals that you aren’t going to be responding to the calls? Why even make this policy public?

If you want the police to show up in Seattle, I guess you’ll need a gauntlet of video cameras around your entire property. That way, they might still get to you in time to save you if burglars break in.

Otherwise, your best bet is to get to the range and practice burglar deletion on your own!
