A congressional hearing found a smug-faced Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin (D) called out to his face over the “misleading” claims about the former president and the Project 2025 “boogeyman.”

Thursday in Washington, D.C., the House Oversight and Accountability Committee held a hearing on policy failures from the Biden-Harris administration dubbed, “A Legacy of Incompetence.” Among the guests was Mandy Gunasekara, who served as EPA chief of staff during then-President Donald Trump’s administration.

When given her turn to speak following Raskin’s talking point-laced opening remarks, she delayed her own opening statement to sound off on the congressman’s assertions that included claims she was gunning for a role in a second Trump White House.

“Ranking member Raskin, you reiterated that have created a boogeyman that just isn’t there. I did author the EPA chapter on Project 2025, but in the course of that, I did not work with President Trump, with any of the people who work for him directly or his campaign,” she stated in a clip highlighted by the Daily Caller. “And it is very misleading to suggest that there is any coordination there because I can personally tell you it did not happen.”

Prior to her opportunity to speak, the Maryland lawmaker, whose taxpayer-fueled Trump Derangement Syndrome had positioned him as the lead impeachment manager for the president’s second impeachment as well as a member of the sham Jan. 6 committee, demonized the conservative proposals in the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 while claiming, “The Biden-Harris Administration has restored America’s place as a global leader and led an economic recovery that is the envy of the rest of the world.”

“Project 2025 wants to reverse all the progress we’ve made, strip Americans of basic fundamental rights and freedoms that we’ve had for decades, and create a federal workforce loyal only to Donald Trump and not to the Constitution of the United States,” he asserted.

In lieu of the tired effort to associate Trump with the think tank project, Gunasekara pointed out that the latest release happened to be the ninth iteration of the project that had been “released every few years since 1981.”

“I understand why there is the creation of this boogeyman because your leading candidate is running away from policy actions she has taken that make Americans’ lives much more difficult,” slammed the former EPA chief.

Countering Raskin’s claims about Bidenomics, she noted Vice President Kamala Harris avoided answering the question of whether Americans were better off than they were four years earlier regarding the economy, “because the reality is most Americans are not better off. Most Americans are struggling to deal with expensive gas, expensive electricity, and high-cost goods and groceries that have created financial burdens that Americans have had to deal with throughout the Biden-Harris administration.”

For bucking the remarks to his face, Gunasekara was lauded on social media as users noted, “When you confront a liar face-to-face, and they respond with a smirk, that’s Washington, D.C. for you.”
