Amid stonewalling from the U.S. Secret Service and another attempt on the former president’s life, a senator revealed an alleged communication about the Butler would-be assassin’s perch.

More than two months after shots were fired at former President Donald Trump during a rally in Pennsylvania leaving firefighter Corey Comperatore dead, the Secret Service has repeatedly denied requests for information from Congress.

Now, with the latest threat against the GOP leader, and after an Iran-tied Pakistani national has been exposed for his own alleged plot to assassinate Trump, Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley (R) asserted the protective detail said they would “take care of” the building that afforded the July 13 sniper his shots at the president.

“Butler County law enforcement officials stated that at separate times during the walkthrough when they reiterated their concerns to the agents and counter-sniper about securing the AGR complex buildings, the agents responded: ‘We will take care of it,’” the lawmaker explained in a Tuesday letter to acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe.

Grassley detailed:

“In response to questions during the July 30 hearing about whether there were explicit instructions to local law enforcement to cover the roof of the AGR building, you testified that it was your understanding ‘what was communicated is that the locals had a plan and that they had been there before.’ However, Butler County law enforcement officials interviewed by my staff have said that on July 11, 2024, during a walkthrough in preparation for the July 13, rally, they raised concerns to the Secret Service several times about securing the AGR complex buildings. Those law enforcement personnel said concerns about securing the AGR complex buildings were specifically flagged for two Secret Service agents and a Secret Service counter-sniper. Are these representations to my staff accurate? Please explain.”

Previously, the senator had sought a response to documents that broke down the responsibilities in the vicinity of the rally wherein the AGR building was not included. He released bodycam footage with audio from the roof where the shots had been fired from that helped illuminate some of the details about what the security detail knew as well as when they knew it.

Additionally, whistleblower disclosures were referenced that detailed the position of the Secret Service agents “Inside AGR Building,” which begged the question, “Is this document a true and accurate representation?”

Further, in his latest communication with Rowe, who took charge of the Secret Service after then-USSS Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned in a show of accountability, the Iowa congressman called out responses to requests for information provided on Aug. 19 and Sept. 4 that asserted there would be no replies because of “ongoing investigations and reviews.”

“That’s unacceptable and fails to take into consideration Congress’s constitutional authority to conduct independent oversight,” asserted Grassley who brought up Sunday’s attempt on Trump that raised “further questions about the Secret Service’s ability to fulfill its protective mission.”

The senator sought a response to his latest questions along with his previous inquiries no later than Sept. 24, 2024.
