Israeli authorities indicted a Jewish Israeli businessman on Thursday who was recruited by the Iranian regime to carry out an assassination plot against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other government officials including Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and Shin Bet head Ronen Bar.

Moti Maman, 73, demanded $1 million in advance to pursue the assassination plot.

Israeli police said Maman had visited Iran on two occasions, as recent as last month, to meet with intelligence officials.

He received about $558,000 in euros for meeting with Iranian intelligence personnel.

“The Israeli citizen demanded an advance payment of $1 million dollars before performing any action,” Israeli police and Shin Bet said in a joint statement. “Iranian agents refused his request and informed him they would contact him in the future.”
