Florida GOP Representative Anna Paulina Luna announced that her office received a “very serious shooting threat” on Wednesday.
Luna (R-Fla.) asserted that she believes the Democrats’ “division and hate campaign against Republicans” is to blame for the increase in violent rhetoric, as well as the murder attempts that have been planned and carried out against GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump, following the second failed assassination attempt at Trump International Golf Club.
She did not specify whether the threat was made via phone call or by mail.
“This division and hate campaign against Republicans is going to get someone killed. I will not be threatened, intimidated, or bow down to those using violence as a means to push their agenda. We will win,” she proclaimed in a post on X.
No further details were revealed regarding the threat against Luna.
“America is the greatest country in the world. I will continue to fight for the wonderful people who have elected me as well as those across the country that feel that they are being left behind,” she continued.
Additionally, the shooting threat follows after Luna had reportedly been doxxed online. “Threatening” packages were mailed to her home in St. Petersburg, Florida, after her Democrat opponent claimed that Luna was a “threat to democracy,” the same accusation that other Democrats typically use to bash their GOP opponents and to scare the public and prompt widespread fear.
“Doxing is the act of revealing personal information about someone online without their consent. It can include information such as the victim’s real name, home address, workplace, phone number, financial information, and other personal details. The term “doxing” is short for “dropping dox,” with “dox” meaning documents. Doxing is typically a malicious act used against people with whom the hacker disagrees or dislikes. The motivations behind doxing can vary from personal revenge to political ends,” according to servicecenter.fsu.edu.
Luna said: “Over the last few weeks, I have received an increasing number of threats and doxxing attacks. An online page was encouraging strangers to send threatening packages to my home,” she stated on Wednesday. “This weekend, it escalated to a very serious shooting threat, and we are taking every necessary step to ensure the safety of my family, staff, and our district.”
Luna noted that law enforcement officials are now actively investigating the threats and that her office would provide updates later on.
“The left continues to push a radical agenda of hate and rhetoric that leads to violence. Just hours before this threat to my office, we saw how there was a second assassination attempt on President Trump’s life,” Luna continued. “When you label people a threat to democracy and attempt to dehumanize/lie about them, violence occurs.”
Additionally, Luna claimed that her Democrat opponent, Whitney Fox, allowed her supporters to utilize the comment section of her campaign’s social media page in order to dox her, leading to the increase in threats.
“The fact that this went on for weeks is not only abhorrent, but also it is shameful,” Luna added. “Please keep my family in your prayers, Hate has no place here.”
