Marriage is tough, folks.

Sometimes, even the best partnerships fall apart, despite every effort to save the union. And there’s no better example than transgender influencer, model, and Mariah Carey impersonator “Suellen” Carey, who has announced an end to his one-year marriage … to himself.

Self-love is out, again, literally!

Carey “married” himself during a ceremony on September 21, 2023, describing it as “one of the happiest days” of his life.

Yes, public, I am sologamous. Over time I discovered and understood what I wanted. Today I value and love myself, I married myself here in London.

This celebration is important because I learned to prioritize my well-being and mental health. In my vows, I wrote and declared my commitment to caring for and valuing my self-love. This is one of the happiest days of my life, I am grateful and very happy. I hope to inspire other people here too.

We will never know the truth behind the breakup — was it keeping the toilet seat up? — but Carey told Pubity that “boredom and a desire for change” was to blame.

“Initially, Carey’s self-marriage symbolized self-love and independence, challenging societal norms. Despite her [sic] efforts, including attending couple therapy, she [sic] found it difficult to maintain high self-demands and perfection,” Pubity said. “Now, she’s [sic] returning to the dating scene, emphasizing the importance of knowing when to close a chapter.”

Hard to guess how couples therapy failed … but then again, this is also a man who seems convinced that he looks like Mariah Carey.
