I’m not making this up: The Canadian Armed Forces’ hate crimes and extremism unit (that’s a real thing now) looked into tampon dispensers that were being vandalized … in the men’s room.

These possible “hate crimes” and acts of “extremism” started in December 2023 when the government’s new directive required military bases to provide menstrual products in men’s restrooms as part of their broader inclusivity effort.

Documents obtained by True North show military brass scrambling to figure out why tampons and pads kept going missing from men’s washrooms. Vandalism, tampering, or removal of feminine hygiene products were reported at several locations.

Despite the investigation request, both the National Investigation Service and the specialized hate crimes unit decided not to move forward, citing a lack of solid evidence.

The best (and funniest) part of this is that all those feminine items missing from men’s washrooms were originally thought to have been due to “high demand.” The building maintenance managers at one Calgary location sent out an internal email about the matter on Jan. 26, 2024.

The cleaners informed me that the tampons at Waters are almost running out due to the high demand in the men’s washrooms.

Shaun Delamere, the Canadian Armed Forces real operations unit operations officer in Calgary, had to start restocking them twice a day.

I have confirmed with the contractor that the (tampon) bin in the second-floor men’s room has been filled twice today.

Military officials were so confused!

ATCO Facility Solutions wrote to military staff they have a hunch that someone may be “abusing” the privilege of having tampons and pads available in men’s washrooms.

Gentlemen, I have no idea what is going on at Waters, but it seems someone may be abusing the provision of female products. The container was completely restocked this morning and is now empty again, as you will see from Bee Clean below.

I have also asked them to use stock from other locations with lower usage to backfill the Waters Building. However, if this consumption rate continues, I will have no choice but to submit an AWR to replace these feminine hygiene products at high-use locations, like the men’s washroom at Waters Building.

Eventually, more bases began to realize what was really happening: Soldiers were trashing the tampon dispensers as a form of protest against the Liberal government’s inclusivity push.

Attaboys!
