'Migrant Influencer' Who Encouraged Illegals to Become Squatters

Let’s start with the good news: Leonel Moreno, the “migrant influencer” who took to social media to encourage his fellow illegals to become squatters, has been ordered deported by an immigration judge.

You remember Moreno. He liked to flaunt wads of cash on social media and bragged about all the freebies he was getting, courtesy of Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and you, the American taxpayer. Moreno entered the country illegally via the southern border floodgates on April 23, 2022, was released almost immediately and, naturally, failed to ever check in with ICE.

Apparently, being an illegal who doesn’t bother to do required check-ins with the U.S. government makes you eminently qualified to receive benefits from said government. Moreno first made headlines for a video in which he waves around a stack of $100 bills, telling his followers:

“I didn’t cross the Rio Grande to work like a slave,” Moreno said in one Instagram clip.

He made other videos bragging that he and his wife used their baby daughter, presumably born in the US, to receive benefits from “Papa Biden,” all while encouraging other illegals to live out a grotesque version of the American dream by taking over empty and abandoned houses.

The law finally caught up with him this past March, when he was taken into custody in Columbus, Ohio. RedState’s Ward Clark reported at the time:

In a near-textbook example of biting the hand that literally fed him, Moreno openly mocked not only other illegal immigrants but also American citizens, bragging about drawing welfare benefits while raking in cash on his social media accounts.

Sadly, Moreno wasn’t taken into custody for being here illegally or even for laughing in the faces of American taxpayers; he was arrested because U.S. intelligence officials believed he was a part of the Venezuelan general directorate of military intelligence.

Oh, that. No big deal. Right, Kamala?

Okay, now for the bad news: It’s unlikely that Moreno will be returned to his native Venezuela anytime soon.

Earlier this year, President Nicolás Maduro’s administration stopped accepting flights of migrants deported from the US and Mexico in retaliation for Washington reimposing economic sanctions on the South American country, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The US said Caracas had failed to restore democratic order, the outlet explained.

The almost weekly flights from the US to Venezuela came to a halt in late January, US officials told the Journal.

There aren’t any direct commercial flights from the US to Venezuela, either; those flights were suspended back in 2019 due to the violence taking place there. So, Leonel Moreno remains on U.S. soil for now, nicely locked up and tucked away at a jail in Geauga County, Ohio. Sadly, Moreno doesn’t seem to be enjoying his time in the slammer, telling one media outlet, “I came here to the United States because of persecution in my country … But they’re doing the same thing to me in the United States — persecuting me.”

At some point, the United States is going to have to end this insanity. We know it won’t be Kamala Harris taking the lead; the Democrats don’t care how many Leonel Morenos are here. The situation is absurd and it has to stop.
