U.S. Rep. Tim Burchett ripped into the “compromised” Secret Service and others in the wake of another assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

The Tennessee Republican, who is a member of the House committee on the failed attempt on Trump’s life in July, demanded answers for how “in hell” anyone was allowed to get that close to the former president as he played golf in Florida on Sunday.

Burchett told Fox News that there are already calls coming into the Capitol demanding answers for the lack of adequate security around the GOP nominee.

“And you got to ask yourself, why was there not a drone flying over wherever the president is? This is ridiculous,” Burchett said, calling out Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw who stated in a press conference that Trump is not getting higher security because he is not the sitting president.

“The left has just ramped up their vitriol. You’ve seen the tweets that y’all are saying something about they need to learn how to aim better and things like that,” he continued.

“Those are the types of things that incite somebody who is on the edge. They know exactly what they’re doing. This establishment, the swamp, whatever you want to call it, it’s an open sewer. They have thrown down the gantlet. They know if Donald J. Trump is elected, their days are over,” he added before ripping into the Secret Service.

“The problem is you’ve got a Secret Service, at least in my opinion, and in the public’s eye, that is compromised and that it lacks in leadership. And you’ve got great agents on the ground, obviously, one who took that shot,” he said.

“But why in the world would anybody be anywhere near the perimeter of this? This line of sight that we talk about is just beyond me. So we’ve got to get some answers. I don’t think we’re going to get them during this administration, but hopefully, under the Trump administration, we’ll clean this rat’s nest out,” Burchett continued.

“There is no way in hell that somebody should have been that close to President Trump with an AK Steel or AK-47 or whatever it was with a scope,” he said, referring to the gunman’s weapon outside of Trump International Golf Club where Trump was playing Sunday.

“Everybody sort of knows his pattern. And I know he likes to play golf, and they know when he’s in Florida, he’s going to play golf. Dadgummit, they should have closed it off,” Burchett expressed, noting the responsibility of local authorities in Palm Beach.

“They have the power to do that. They ought to do that. They’re going to come to us for more money. I think they need to quit with the DEI hires and start putting qualified people out there in decision-making positions instead of what they’re doing right now,” Burchett said.
