The son of Ryan Wesley Routh, the man suspected of attempting to assassinate former President Donald Trump, said his father is not a violent man and that he believed his father did not own a gun.

The son, Oran Routh, who spoke to the Daily Mail, first learned of the assassination attempt Sunday when speaking to the British publication.

“This was the first I heard about it,” he said. “Was my father shot or injured?”

Routh said his father hates Trump like “every reasonable person does.”

The son, however, said his dad is non-violent and struggled to believe his father would target Trump.

“I don’t like Trump either,” he also said. “He’s my dad, and all he’s had is couple traffic tickets, as far as I know.”

He said about his father being the would-be assassinate outside of Trump International Golf Club, in West Palm Beach, Florida: “That’s crazy. I know my dad and love my dad, but that’s nothing like him.”
