Sweden’s right-wing government said this week it will drastically increase incentives for migrants to return to their home countries. The previously migrant-friendly country is increasing its offer by 35 times to over $34,000 for those wishing to leave.

The increase came after Swedish citizens protested against the influx of migrants, The Daily Wire reported.

The country has seen an influx of migrants from third-world countries, especially Muslim countries like Syria, Afghanistan, Somalia, Iran and Iraq.

Sweden’s new Migration Minister Johan Forssell told reporters the country is experiencing “a paradigm shift in our migration policy.”

Swedish liberals in government complained the shift told migrants the country no longer wanted them, which could impede their ability to assimilate into Swedish society.

The right-wing government countered that migrants were failing to assimilate and placing a drain on public resources intended for Swedish citizens.
