If you were confused on Monday by the sudden proliferation of social media memes featuring AI-generated images of Donald Trump surrounded by kittens and ducks, or saving them from Haitians mobs, let me explain.

Residents of Springfield, Ohio, a town of about 60,000 people, have been complaining recently about the influx of some 20,000 Haitian immigrants over the past three years, which has transformed their community in profound and disturbing ways. Some have claimed the Haitians are stealing people’s cats and dogs and slaughtering them to eat. Others have said they’re grabbing ducks and geese from the local park and decapitating them.

Corporate media were quick to publish stories on Monday “debunking” these claims, citing local police and municipal officials who say there have been no reports of missing pets or decapitated ducks in the park. Never mind that those officials have no way of knowing whether this is really happening, the point of such stories was to shame the people who dare to notice the problems that arise when you inundate a community with foreigners.

And of course it’s not just the slaughtering of animals that’s a problem in Springfield. The local community health clinic, for example, has been overwhelmed with Haitian patients in recent years, with a 13-fold increase from 2021 to 2023, from 115 to 1,500 according to the New York Times. The public school system had to hire two dozen Haitian-Creole interpreters and now spends ten times more on translation services compared to four years ago because so many school children are Haitians who don’t speak English. Because of the rapid population increase in Springfield, housing costs have skyrocketed, with many local residents priced out because of newly-arrived Haitians willing to pay more in rent.

And then last year, a Haitian migrant allegedly killed an 11-year-old Springfield boy and injured 23 other children when he crashed his car into a school bus. After that, residents began speaking out more about the Haitian immigrant problem in Springfield.

Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance has brought up Springfield more than once in recent months, pointing to it as an example of how the Biden-Harris administration’s immigration policies have hurt American towns and communities, overwhelming them with illegal immigrants caught crossing the border and then released into the interior of the country. The mayor and city manager of Springfield went on Fox News a few months ago and said the same, that the Haitian migrant influx is crippling and overwhelming the city.

The cat and duck memes sprang up after Charlie Kirk posted on X about Springfield residents reporting that Haitians have been stealing and butchering cats and dogs, as well as ducks and geese from a local municipal park, which is at least plausible since it’s a common practice in Haiti, where a majority of the population practices the vodou religion that involves, among other things, animal sacrifice.

Whether there’s any truth behind the cats and ducks memes, the reality is that Springfield is being destroyed by mass immigration. Residents have taken to social media to complain about all kinds of bizarre incidents, from unlicensed and uninsured Haitian drivers demanding payment after causing traffic accidents, to grown men taking naked sink baths in women’s restrooms at a grocery store, to homeless Haitian migrants camping out on people’s lawns.

These are real problems, not racist memes. But why are so many Haitians here in the U.S. to begin with? Because the Biden-Harris administration let them in. Many Haitians were let in through a policy that allowed those arrested after crossing the border illegally to be paroled into the country. “Paroled into the country” is just a jargon-y way of saying they were released from federal custody on their own recognizance, free to go wherever they want in the U.S.

Not only that, but as Harris herself has bragged, some 300,000 Haitians were granted Temporary Protected Status, or TPS, by the Biden-Harris administration. TPS is a giant scam of a federal program that allows huge numbers of foreigners to remain in the U.S. indefinitely. Under the Biden-Harris administration, it has expanded dramatically. Created in 1990 to help refugees fleeing El Salvador’s civil war, TPS was supposed to be, as its name implies, temporary. But that’s not how it has worked out. In 1991, Liberians were granted TPS because of a civil war. Nicaraguans and Hondurans were added to the TPS ranks after Hurricane Mitch in 1999. And of course Haitians were given TPS in 2011 for the earthquake that hit Haiti the year before. Most of these people have never left the U.S.

In other words, TPS is temporary in name only. Under successive administrations, both Republican and Democrat, it has become a permanent entitlement. During his term in office, Trump tried to end TPS for various groups, like the 200,000 Salvadorans who’d been granted TPS status for an earthquake that happened in 2001. But Trump’s efforts were delayed, first by bureaucrats within his own Department of Homeland Security and then by activists and the courts until Biden came into office and restored it. That means the 300,000 Haitians that Biden-Harris gave TPS status to are here to stay barring the total dissolution of TPS under a future Trump administration.

In the meantime, communities like Springfield will be transformed by the mass influx of foreigners and foreign customs, many of which are hostile to and incompatible with our American way of life. It’s not racist or xenophobic to admit that, it’s simply the truth. People from other cultures and different parts of the world live differently than we do. It should not be too much to ask that if they come here, to the United States, that they adopt our culture and way of life. That they refrain, let’s say, from taking ducks and geese from our municipal parks and decapitating them for vodou rituals.

But to do that, to insist upon it, requires a culture confidence and a desire to preserve the nation that our managerial leadership class simply does not possess. What’s more, our leaders actively seek out the dissolution of the nation, the American people as such, so that they might rule over a heterogeneous mass of atomized and powerless individuals with no customs, no shared affinities or loyalties or history, and no future except to be ruled by their betters.

And if you think that a few decapitated ducks or skinned cats are going to get in the way of that, think again.
