AP News continues to lose credibility…
While reacting to the horrific school shooting in Georgia this week, vice presidential candidate JD Vance said “I don’t like that this is a fact of life. But if you are a psycho and you want to make headlines, you realize that our schools are soft targets. And we have got to bolster security at our schools. We’ve got to bolster security, so if a psycho wants to walk through the front door and kill a bunch of children, they’re not able.”
But that’s not how AP News reported the Vance quote. Here’s a look at how AP misled readers by making Vance sound dismissive and callous — Charlie Kirk shared a side-by-side comparison of the deleted article and the reposted article on X. Spot the difference?
“The AP just deleted this tweet to avoid getting slammed by community notes, but let’s be clear about what just happened here… JD Vance told reporters that he doesn’t like that there are psychotic maniacs who shoot up schools, and that we should respond by improving security to make schools less vulnerable targets. What did the AP do with that? They twisted and cherry-picked his comments to make him seem cold and indifferent to victims. The AP is a collection of liars and propagandists dressed up as a wire service. They’re a dumping ground for bitter people too stupid to make it at a real publication. What trash,” Kirk said in his post.

In an exclusive comment to Fox News Digital, Vance spokesperson William Martin attacked the AP.
“This is yet another case of the fake news media brazenly lying about a Republican politician. Senator Vance said exactly the opposite of what the Associated Press claimed. It should come as no surprise that the AP lost any and all credibility it had years ago, because they will lie about literally anything in order prop up the Democrats. Meanwhile, Kamala Harris has called for all police officers to be removed from schools, putting children all over America at risk. It’s yet another example of how Kamala Harris’s weak, failed, and dangerously liberal agenda makes her unfit for office,” Martin said.
Popular conservative news account Libs of TikTok shared the original clip of what Vance said on X.

The “fact of life” lie is the latest hoax being spread by Kamala and Tim Walz.

But the damage may have already been done. As Town Hall pointed out on X, the original post with the misleading headline had 2.2 million impressions; the correction, just 100K.

Vance replied to Kamala Harris’ misrepresentation of his quote, saying “Kamala wants to take security out of our schools instead of protecting our children. Instead of addressing her own failures, she lies about what I said. More desperation from the biggest fraud in American politics.”
