Kamala Harris dodges media questions by pretending to be on a phone call – while wearing headphones

Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, has been criticized for the way she dodged questions by the media as she boarded Air Force Two on Sept. 2.

The incumbent vice president was seen holding her mobile phone and wearing headphones in a bid to sidestep questions from the press. Members of the media had gathered at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland to see the Democratic nominee.

She just gave a brief salute that appeared somewhat awkward and shook hands with a service member as she ascended the steps of her jet. Harris then waved to the cameras and entered the jet – all while keeping a hand pressed to her ear, as if deeply engaged in a conversation.

The Trump War Room account posted on X: “If you’re going to pretend that you’re on the phone, you should probably do a little bit better of an acting job than holding your phone up to your ear while wearing wired headphones.”

The former president’s official campaign agreed with the sentiment, pointing out that Harris ought to improve her acting skill if she wants to ward off any media interaction. It also drew parallels to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, her running mate, walking away when asked for comment about the hostages found dead in Gaza.

Harris FAKING phone calls and accents

“She’s got earbud headphones in and she’s holding the phone to her ear. She’s double too busy to stop and answer questions,” Steve Watson of Modernity News commented.

“She’s running for president and can’t face the media. She also cannot do interviews on her own. This is because everything she does has to be scripted and fake.” (Related: Kamala Harris used fake letter to deceive public into thinking Tucker Carlson praised her push for gun control.)

It’s not just phone calls that the vice president is faking, as it appears that Harris is also putting on an accent to be more relatable to voters. Peter Doocy of Fox News brought up the fake accent during a media briefing, to the annoyance of White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

“Since when does the vice president have what sounds like a Southern accent?” Doocy asked, following up with a question as whether she talks with that same accent in meetings. Jean-Pierre dismissed his questions, claiming that Americans are more interested in serious matters before turning to address another reporter.

The exchange between Doocy and Jean-Pierre happened a day after footage of Harris addressing teachers union members in Michigan went viral. Many people on social media accused her of using what they described as a “fake accent” during her remarks. Several people said she appeared to change her tone of voice.

“You better thank a union member for the five-day work week,” Harris said while speaking to a crowd at a Detroit high school. “You better thank a union member for sick leave. You better thank a union member for paid leave. You better thank a union member for vacation time.”

Users on social media criticized the vice president. Some even likened her sudden voice change to Looney Tunes character Foghorn Leghorn. Others said it makes her seem phony or disingenuous.
