Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus defeated American Jessica Pegula 7-5, 7-5 in the finals of the U.S. Open women’s final Saturday in New York City. It was her first win at the U.S. Open and third overall tennis grand slam win, having twice won the Australia Open. 

This was Pegula’s first finals at a grand slam event. Pegula’s father is the principal owner of the Buffalo Bills of the NFL and the Buffalo Sabres of the NHL.
