In November of last year, Hans Schmidt, a street preacher in Arizona, was shot in the head in a random act of violence while sharing the Gospel message.

We covered his story here, here, here, and here.

After nearly ten months in recovery, we now get to hear Hans tell his story for the first time to a local news station.

It’s amazing. The doctors told his wife Zumia when they brought him in that they’d be able to find out exactly what happened after the autopsy! They wrote him off as a dead man walking.

Yet, here is that dead man. Fully alive.

I should not be alive. Realistically, I should be dead. And because His grace and His love, I’m still here. The bullet passed through my brain … it’s a straight line, straight through, went in here and still over here.

The bullet fragments are still in his head! They can’t operate to get them out. But he still has nearly completely recovered.

The doctors believed death was inevitable.

If this isn’t a miracle, I don’t know what is.

The shooter is still yet to be caught, and while we can hope justice is served, Hans has already personally forgiven the unknown assailant.

I don’t think that holding a grudge against him is going to change anything. I think it’s important to forgive people, so, yeah, I forgive him.

A dose of God’s goodness to get you through the day. ✊
