CNN anchor Chris Wallace purports to be a journalist but can’t keep his biased thoughts to himself.

The former Fox News host interviewed actor Dennis Quaid on his latest movie portraying the late President Ronald Reagan and couldn’t hide his own Trump Derangement Syndrome.

In a preview clip from the Max series “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace,” the CNN anchor practically berated the 70-year-old actor for his endorsement of former President Donald Trump by insisting that Reagan, whom Quaid highly admires, “would have been appalled” by the Republican nominee.

“You have a new movie out called Reagan that focuses on his effort to win the Cold War,” Wallace said. “You’ve come out for Donald Trump in this election. And I’m a little curious about that because a lot of people say that there would be no room for Ronald Reagan in Donald Trump’s Republican Party.”

“Well, I really don’t agree with that in a sense,” Quaid pushed back.

“Yes, Ronald Reagan was a man of his times. And Trump is also, he’s a man of his times. But I do feel that the principles of Ronald Reagan and the principles of Donald J. Trump are very similar,” he added.

“Well, let me pick up on that though because Reagan confronted the Russians. He talked, and you in the movie talk, about an evil empire. Trump doesn’t do that,” Wallace interjected. “Reagan supported free trade. Trump imposes tariffs. And Reagan’s 11th commandment was thou shall not speak ill of another Republican. I gotta say, I think Reagan would have been appalled by Trump’s behavior.”

Quaid drew on the similarities between the political landscape of 1980 and that of 2024.

“Well, I do think you see a Trump 2.0 here as far as the Republican Party and him getting along this time around,” he told Wallace.

“Ronald Reagan was America first I would contend. The circumstances around that, the issues around the election of 1980 are very similar today. You had high inflation, gas prices, what they were, we had hostages in the Middle East. We were told that we were a nation in decline and felt that malaise that Jimmy Carter himself said, that and very similar issues to what is going on today,” Quad informed the so-called journalist.

The new film about Reagan also stars other Trump-supporting actors including Jon Voight, Kevin Sorbo, and Robert Davi. And, as usual, though “Reagan” was panned by critics, it beat box office expectations in its first weekend.

“Reagan would be the head of the Republican Party these days, there’s no doubt about that,” Quaid told Fox News Digital. “This country yearns for it, in a sense. He was a man of his times, as well. And I think those principles are still there in the Republican Party of today.”

“Reagan won the Cold War,” Quaid said. “Reagan also testified communists are trying to take over the unions in Hollywood, not just the actors union, but the set builders union and cameras union and writers, everything and make it all one thing. And they had to go through the actors’ union first, of course, that was the hardest.”

“And Reagan fought that at the time,” he continued. “And when he testified before Congress, he said that we ought to, as a nation, just go ahead and allow the Communist Party to come into the country and let them say their ideas and everything else because democracy can handle it. And it would sort itself out. Because people would see the common sense in things. He believed in common sense.”
