When it comes to the media Democrat politicians appear to not get the same treatment as Republicans when they say things that are controversial.

Another example of this happened this week when California Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters spoke about why she believes many black men have started to support former President Donald Trump.

“It’s only a small segment. You’re talking about more the hip-hop segment of the black males that they talk about maybe talking about supporting Trump,” she said when she appeared on “CNN News Central” and spoke to co-hosts Sara Sidner and John Berman. “It’s not a huge number. Some of those, of course, you know, Trump has pardoned some of those who have been in prison, like Lil Wayne, and I say to people, look, if you’re in prison and somebody pardons you, say thank you.”

“And I don‘t know what all else went into that, but after you say thank you and do whatever it is you do to appreciate the pardon, then you say, ‘But I‘ve got to say goodbye. I‘ve got to be with the people who understand what is necessary for everybody to have a decent quality of life,’” she said.

Imagine the media response if a Republican said that black males support someone because of their stance on prisons.

But the 86-year-old representative did appear to admit that economic issues may be another factor.

“I believe that we have not done a good enough job in working with and educating young people about public policy issues,” she said. “Many of our young people are entrepreneurs and they want to have businesses, they would like to have some assistance and some help with that. They need access to capital and this is very important with them. They see that their lives have been a little bit difficult. Rent’s too high, they don’t have 20% for a down payment on a home, on and on and on. We’ve got to do a better job.”

But it is not only black men who are interested in the former president.

A black woman, Jo Anne Price, who owns a pro-Donald Trump store in Virginia, gave a CNN reporter and panel fits after being interviewed by the network.

CNN correspondent Elle Reeve spoke to her and several customers and questioned them about their support for the former president.

The interview first aired  during “Anderson Cooper 360” where they mentioned that Vice President Kamala Harris’ support among Black voters higher than President Joe Biden’s, , 77% to 64%, but the former president’s among the group was “unchanged at around 13%.”

During the interview, Price highlighted some merchandise she sells, which included swimsuits, Confederate flag merchandise, and a faux “White Privilege Card.”

“Every woman ought to have one of these,” she said about the Confederate Rebel Flag swimsuit.

“It’s one of those things that when people see one, then they want one.” She said, and said the Confederate Flag cowboy hat was the “same thing…because people don’t think you have the nerve to do it.”

A black male customer said he showed a state trooper his white privilege card and the trooper laughed and then did not give him a ticket.

The store owner said that there was “no way” she would have even thought about voting for Biden or Harris, “absolutely not,” and she said that the attacks on the former president “have done nothing more than strengthen Black people’s connection to him, because now he’s someone who is the target of a struggle.”
