Women voters explained to former CNN host Don Lemon why they don’t support Vice President Kamala Harris and why they are endorsing former President Donald Trump in a video posted on Tuesday.

CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten noted on Friday that women are a key factor in Harris’s momentum, as she leads Trump by an 11-point margin among female voters nationally. This is a significant increase from the four-point lead President Joe Biden had among women before he exited the race on July 21.

Some women have expressed that their lives were better under Trump, however, and are critical of Harris, telling Lemon that they do not want to vote for her based solely on her race and gender.

“I’m going for Trump. I feel like every time they don’t want somebody who is good for us to win, they throw somebody black in our face thinking that’s going to make us vote for the black person,” a black woman told Lemon. “Kamala was on Biden’s team, and I don’t like Biden. Gas wasn’t this high when Trump was our president. Food wasn’t this high.”

“I voted for Obama because he was black. I don’t want to vote for her because she’s the first black woman to run for president or to win,” another black woman told Lemon. “It has to change. And now I vote more for what fits me better as a person rather than voting for the black person or voting for the first woman.”

Later, a white woman apologized for supporting Trump, leading Lemon to ask why. “Well, I know nobody likes him, but we had good times with Donald Trump,” she said. She also told Lemon she doesn’t “like the way [Harris] speaks, the giddiness, the laughing. Everything’s a joke and it’s not a joke. We’re in trouble.”

Another white woman told Lemon she “used to be against Trump” when she lived in Virginia but took to supporting him after moving to Cleveland.

Then, another black woman said she not only supports Trump but told Lemon why she doesn’t like Harris.

“She phony and fake, you know what I’m saying? … I’m not feeling her. People get mad about it. I’m just not feeling her,” she said.

Earlier this week, black men told Sky News they also supported Trump. “Some people don’t like it, but I think he a smart businessman,” one of them said. “Some want to call him an a-hole but I think he an excellent a-hole.”

Harris made a surprise appearance at the Democratic National Convention on Monday night, taking the stage to thank President Joe Biden after he was reportedly shoved out of the race a month ago.

“This is going to be a great week, and I want to kick us off by celebrating our incredible President Joe Biden, who will be speaking later tonight. Joe, thank you for your historic leadership, for your lifetime of service to our nation, and for all you will continue to do, we are forever grateful to you. Thank you, Joe,” Harris said.

“Looking out at everyone tonight, I see the beauty of our great nation. People from every corner of our country and every walk of life are here united by our shared vision for the future of our country, and this November, we will come together and declare with one voice, as one people, we are moving forward,” Harris added.

“With optimism, hope, and faith, so guided by our love of country, knowing we all have so much more in common than what separates us, let us fight for the ideals we hold dear, and let us always remember when we fight, we win,” the vice president continued.
