PAOLA, KS — A local wife and mother reported a fascinating incident today, as she entered her family’s living room to find her husband and toddler son equally mesmerized by the sight of an excavator working across the street.

Dana Henson had just finished putting food away in the fridge after lunch when she walked into the living room and saw her husband, Todd, and three-year-old son, Logan, both standing completely motionless outside in the family’s front yard. Upon further investigation, she realized they were both awestruck by the excavator across the street.

“That machine had an unbreakable hold on both of them,” Dana said later. “They were just standing there completely silent, except for occasional grunts. When I went to see what they were staring at, all I saw was a bright yellow excavator. It was as if time stopped for both of them.”

Todd later explained his actions. “You should have seen it, man,” he said, a hushed awe still in his voice. “That thing was just out there… digging up a bunch of dirt. I saw Logan standing at the window, and I wanted to find out what had him paying such close attention… and then I saw it. It was… beautiful.”

Young Logan Henson was rendered unable to provide any comment other than an enthusiastic “Woah!”

At publishing time, Dana predicted a similar shared reaction from her husband and son later tonight when they would be offered apple pie after dinner.
