It sets an immaculate vibe when you can kick off a week of political and cultural commentary with a solid deez nuts joke. Thanks to Elon Musk and the expense of both Gavin Newsom and Kah-Muh-La Harris, this is that week. The California governor believing misinformation spread by the mainstream media is why he’s being introduced to deez.

We’re going to In Medias Res this business. Act Two of this story is Gavin dropping X on Elon’s platform, with a screen capture of a headline.

The link is to an NBC News article where it took not one, not two, but THREE journalsimers to write about Cousin Elon sharing a post on X. In just the headline and the lede, there are two pieces of misinformation. They identify the video is a “campaign ad.” And they say the origin of the video “isn’t known yet.”

(Editor’s Note: Please remember the only liar in all of politics is Donald Trump, according to a) liars, and b) a campaign entirely centered around lying about a think tank’s 900-plus page policy document)

Had Gavin shared the link to the article, the first line would have given it away. This wasn’t a campaign ad in the sense that NBC News journalismers implied, knowing most people will read the headline and not the article. Elon “retweeted a parody Kamala Harris campaign ad” that NBC News claimed X-Twitter didn’t label as “misleading.”

Parody (/ˈperədē/) is a noun that implies an imitation of the style of a particular writer, artist, or genre with deliberate exaggeration for comic effect. X-Twitter didn’t have to label it misleading because it says PARODY in the post—in capital letters, too, to make sure you didn’t miss it. And we know where it came from. It came from the YouTuber known as Mr. Reagan. It says so in his bio.

Gavin claims he’s rushing through legislation to outlaw free speech in California. Elon responded with an appeal to authority, quoting a well-renowned expert in the First Amendment.

Lol. “Suggon.”

Gavin hasn’t responded yet. His mouth is full.
