In a recent post on social media, Arkansas Republican Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has called for President Joe Biden to resign from office, citing his recent decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race. Sanders, a prominent Republican figure and former White House press secretary under President Donald Trump, criticized Biden’s fitness for the presidency.
“Not fit to run for president, not fit to serve as president,” Sanders wrote in her post. “Biden should resign immediately.”
Sanders’ comments come on the heels of President Biden’s announcement that he will not seek re-election in 2024. In his statement, Biden reflected on his four years in office, highlighting accomplishments such as building the “strongest economy in the world,” lowering prescription drug prices, expanding health care, tackling climate change, and appointing the first Black woman to the Supreme Court, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson.
However, Sanders and other Republicans have seized on Biden’s decision to drop out of the race as evidence of his inability to serve as president. “If Joe Biden is not fit to run for President, he is not fit to serve as President. He must resign the office immediately,” said House Speaker Mike Johnson.
The call for Biden’s resignation has sparked a debate among political observers. Supporters of the president argue that his decision to step aside demonstrates his commitment to the Democratic Party and the country, while critics like Sanders claim it is an admission of his unfitness for office.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, the question of whether President Biden will heed the calls for his resignation remains unanswered. In the meantime, the nation watches and waits for the next chapter in this unfolding story.
