WASHINGTON, D.C. — Tucker Carlson, former Fox News host, has made a striking claim on X/Twitter, alleging that former President Barack Obama is privately expressing doubts about President Joe Biden’s ability to win re-election in 2024. According to Carlson’s post on X, Obama, despite publicly supporting Biden, is advocating for an open convention, signaling a lack of confidence in Biden’s chances.

“From an unusually good source: Obama’s tweet supporting Joe Biden was disingenuous. In private, Obama is telling people Biden can’t win, and he is therefore in favor of an open convention,” Carlson posted. He added that Obama has not disclosed whom he supports for the Democratic nomination and had not personally met with Biden to relay this message as of yesterday afternoon.

Carlson also highlighted ongoing tensions between the Obamas and the Bidens, particularly pointing out Jill Biden’s influence. “Relations between the Obamas and the Bidens have never been warm. At times they’ve been hostile. But recently they’ve deteriorated further, mostly due to Jill Biden,” Carlson noted.

He claimed that Jill Biden has been a key figure in her husband’s reelection campaign, keeping him isolated from those who might suggest he withdraw from the race.

The tweet further suggests that other Democratic contenders are seeing this as an opportunity, with Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer actively promoting herself as a potential candidate. “The next generation of potential Democratic candidates understands all this as an opportunity and they’re circling, particularly Gretchen Whitmer, who is promoting herself aggressively,” Carlson stated.

These claims, if true, could indicate significant behind-the-scenes maneuvering within the Democratic Party as the 2024 election approaches.
