Any debate about whether Sean Strickland can beat up a Navy SEAL can officially be put to rest.

Strickland set the internet on fire when he claimed a SEAL couldn’t keep up with him in training, and social media was lit up with hot takes and responses.

Multiple SEALs came forward claiming Strickland had no idea what he was talking about. Others pointed to the fact Strickland is one of the best fighters on the planet as proof he’d crush a SEAL in a fight, or just encouraged people to relax a bit.

Well, the debate and discussion is now over after the UFC sensation sparred with former SEAL Mitch Aguiar.

Sean Strickland brutalizes Navy SEAL in training session.

Strickland sparred against former Navy SEAL and current MMA fighter Mitch Aguiar…..and it was an absolute disaster for the latter.

Footage shows the UFC superstar mauling the former SEAL while seemingly putting in no effort. By the end of the session, Aguiar appeared to be struggling to just stand up. Keep in mind, Aguiar isn’t a random SEAL. He’s also a trained fighter, and he got brutalized.

You can watch footage from the sparring session in the video below, and let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.

I hate to break it to everyone, but this was always going to be the outcome for a Strickland/SEAL fight. SEALs are tough dudes. They go through intense training and are a great asset in America’s military toolbox. When it comes time to shoot bad guys and kick butt, the SEALs are a great option.

However, there’s a big difference between training for war and training for a fight against one of the best fighters to ever live. Sean Strickland is a pro fighter. It’s what he does for a living. It’s all he trains for. SEALs have a completely different job that requires training for many different things.

And before you all call me crazy, I asked a SEAL Team 6 buddy of mine what he thought about the idea a SEAL could fight an elite UFC athlete, and he said the SEAL would have no chance. None.

Now, if we’re talking about a gunfight or a hostage rescue mission, then the dynamics would immediately change.

Let’s hope this puts this pretty dumb debate to rest. Sean Strickland isn’t losing to anyone who isn’t also an elite UFC star. That doesn’t make SEALs less badass just because one couldn’t beat up Sean Strickland. It’s simply different jobs and different training.
