Planning to interrupt Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog eating contest on the Fourth of July is one of the most un-American deeds out there.

But red-blooded Americans can count on PETA to make fools of themselves with such outrageous protests.

PETA — the organization of loons fighting for animal rights — announced Wednesday that they’ll be attending the famous hot dog eating contest in Coney Island on Thursday and vilifying the killing of animals for food.

PETA was also the proponent of “no chicken wings” for the Super Bowl this year; needless to say, they are not that bright a bunch.

To get their radical message out this year, PETA will be making a grand showcase in Coney Island.

Coming along with them Thursday will be the “Hell on Wheels” truck — adorned with images of “pigs crammed into transport trucks” which will also be “blasting recorded sounds of their screams.”

(Keep in mind that Nathan’s hot dogs are (famously) 100% beef … chalk that up as another misfire by PETA.)

PETA’s grand statement: it’s time to go vegan!

Their official statement on their planned protest read:

“Following the news that 16-time champion Joey Chestnut was kicked out of the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest for repping a vegan wiener, ‘Hell on Wheels’—PETA’s life-size, hyperrealistic pig transport truck covered with images of real pigs crammed into crates on their way to slaughter — is headed to Coney Island on Thursday to bombard the competition’s spectators with actual recorded sounds of the animals’ panicked screams along with a subliminal message every 10 seconds suggesting that people go vegan.”

As is typical with PETA’s outrageous protests, observers will undoubtedly be more motivated than ever to indulge in their meat-based dishes this Independence Day.

“Behind every hot dog is a once-living, sensitive individual who was crammed onto a truck for a terrifying, miserable journey to their death,” PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman said.

Reiman added, “PETA’s ‘Hell on Wheels’ truck is an appeal to anyone who eats pigs, cows, or other animals to remember that the meat industry is cruel to them and the only kind meal is a vegan one.”

Between the PETA protest and the absence of 16-time Nathan’s champion Joey Chestnut, Thursday’s hot dog eating contest is bound to have twists and turns.

As previously reported on OutKick, Chestnut plans to spend the Fourth of July in El Paso, where he will challenge the soldiers at Fort Bliss to an Independence Day hot dog-eating contest.
