Former NFL player Daniel Muir and his wife have both been charged with domestic battery after allegedly hiding their “missing” son following a slew of abuse concerns.

According to a release from Indiana State Police, Bryson Muir, 14, was discovered safe on Wednesday morning following the execution of search warrants by local and state police on the family’s Logansport residence.

On June 16th, Bryson was last seen leaving his grandmother’s house in Ohio.

Daniel Muir faces accusations of domestic violence and obstruction of justice. According to the police, his spouse, Kristin Muir, is also accused of obstruction, as they believe that she assisted him.

Last week, Cheryl Wright, the mother of Kristin Muir, told outlet WTHR that she had picked up her grandson in Toledo, Ohio, per his parents’ request. She immediately noticed that Bryson had a split lip, a black eye, and a swollen face.

“He just said that his dad did it, but he wasn’t angry… But he wasn’t angry at his father,” Wright said. “He told me that he deserved it, and it was OK. So I told him that it wasn’t and that nobody should beat their children like that. Not if they love them.”

Bryson’s “silver” alert displayed a picture of the 14-year-old with a severe black eye bruise.

On June 16th, Wright called the local police after Bryson’s parents arrived to pick him up with an unidentified man. However, Bryson had left the car when it was pulled over a short while after Wright left her house.

Two days later, according to the Indiana State Police, they were asked to help with an investigation into a domestic battery. After speaking with Daniel and Kristin Muir, investigators were able to get them to agree to meet Bryson.

However, the couple did not bring the teenager to the investigator meeting.

Bryson was placed under a silver alert on Sunday, according to the police, who also stated that he was “missing and endangered.”

The Department of Child Services in Cass County is currently watching over Bryson and taking care of him. He seemed “safe and well,” according to the state police.

From 2007 to 2014, defensive tackle Daniel Muir played for several teams in the NFL, including the Green Bay Packers, the Colts, the Jets, and the Raiders.
