If you ever needed a real-time example to illustrate to your friends how much the media sucks at life and has well-earned its reputation as the least trusted institution in America, these past two weeks have been amazeballs. We’ve gone from quoting George Orwell as the media attacked US on the Right for believing our eyes and ears to CNN’s Jake Tapper using the same quote against Biden now that the media has gotten permission to and/or was forced into a position where they can’t pretend anymore. It depends how cynical you feel like being as you read this.

A timeline:

1/20/21 to 6/17/24: Every other day or so, there is a video of Joe Biden looking like he doesn’t know where he is, how all these people got into his room, or who pooped in his pants. He also fell down a lot. During this time, you can also see his brain go from 50.1% tapioca pudding to at least 69%. It affected his reelection efforts, as he consistently polled behind a guy that Democrats had convicted of thirty-four bookkeeping errors.

6/18/24: Karine Jean-Pierre, standing behind the White House podium, gives journalismers their orders to refer to these videos as “cheapfakes.”

6/19/24 to 6/26/24: For seven days, the media did exactly what the White House told them to do. Conservatives, Trump supporters, and all the other sects on the Right were reminded of the George Orwell quote from 1984, “The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”

6/27/24:The debate happened.

6/27/24 to 7/1/24: Embarrassed that they were exposed, the media has been leading the charge of saying Biden needs to drop out. Suddenly, there are anonymous quotes that Joe Biden behind the scenes is just as bad as the Joe Biden we see on camera. The things they couldn’t be honest about because it would mean helping Donald Trump they could suddenly be honest about. Gone was the word “cheapfake.” No one in the media acknowledges shilling for the White House by using the word “cheapfake” for videos that turned out not to be cheap or fake. The word was just gone.

7/1/24:CNN’s Jake Tapper be all like, “The spinning is all very reminiscent of the George Orwell quote from the book 1984. It’s relevant again today. ‘The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.’”

Of course, we all know what happens next.

However much you hate the media, it’s not… you know, the thing.
