The Associated Press was mocked on the social media platform, X after it posted an article with the headline, “Biden at 81: Sharp and focused but sometimes confused and forgetful.”

The article was posted Wednesday evening with responses mocking the article with the “Libs of TikTok” account replying with “Nobody is falling for this BS anymore.”

Recently, President Joe Biden and presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump squared off in the first presidential televised debate where Biden’s performance was widely panned as confused and mumbling.

This has resulted in White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre saying that “jet lag” was the cause of his poor debate performance, while some Democratic leaders called on him to drop out of the presidential race.

“He is often sharp and focused,” the AP article reads, describing Biden. “But he also has moments, particularly later in the evening, when his thoughts seem jumbled and he trails off mid-sentence or seems confused. Sometimes he doesn’t grasp the finer points of policy details. He occasionally forgets people’s names, stares blankly and moves slowly around the room.”

Users on X mocked the article and headline with one user saying, “When news orgs try and push this ‘sharp’ nonsense, it no longer feels like just normal partisan bias, but insulting arrogance.”

Another user wrote, “AP in 2024: accurate and fair but sometimes partisan and shoddy.”
