Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s independent presidential campaign is strapped for cash and layoffs take place.

Five staffers who were laid off told the New York Times that they were informed the decision was due to financial struggles.

There were 3 existing campaign staffers who told the outlet the same, according to the report.

Kennedy’s campaign has been focused on ballot access efforts. His running mate, Nicole Shanahan, gave the campaign $2.5 last month alone.

“My goal is to make sure we are on the ballots,” she said.
