New York Mets broadcaster Keith Hernandez wants to do damage to Grimace. At least, any replicas of him.

This statement begs two questions, the first of which is, “Who is Grimace?” He’s a taste-bud shaped mascot from a McDonald’s fictional series that has given the Mets reason to hope after a shaky start to the year.

The next question is, “Why does Keith want to do anything to hurt replicas of the guy? Isn’t he a good luck charm?” That might be the case, but Hernandez has some alternate plans for any replicas of everyone’s favorite taste bud.

During Sunday’s game between the Mets and the Houston Astros, the camera panned to a woman who was wearing an inflatable replica of Grimace.

Out of nowhere, Hernandez verbalized his intrusive thoughts and said he wanted to impale the costume.

“Wouldn’t you just love to have an ice pick and pop it, Gare?” Hernandez said to play-by-play announcer Gary Cohen. “I would love to do it.”

Fortunately, Cohen said no like a normal human being. But it does lead you to wonder: what would Hernandez do if he really had a sharp object near one of these costumes?

Hopefully, no one ever has to find out.
