Chris Bassitt is lucky New York Yankees superstar Aaron Judge hit a 102-mph line drive at his arm.

Now to be fair, a pitcher like Bassitt (who plays for the Toronto Blue Jays) could probably live without having a baseball fly right back at him and hit him in his pitching arm. To boot, this happened on just his sixth pitch of the game. That’s far from an ideal start to an afternoon on the mound.

But quite honestly, he’s lucky he’s not going to the ICU right now.

Had Judge hit the ball just over a foot higher on Bassitt’s frame, the ball would have struck the pitcher on the neck/head area and sent him to the hospital.

I think I got a bruise just watching that. Good on Bassitt for taking it like a gigachad and barely even grimacing afterward.

Incredibly, he stayed in the game, and didn’t let a minor collision or a two-men-on, one-out situation faze him. Through three full innings, he’s allowed only three hits and two walks while striking out three guys in just 36 pitches. To boot, his team got him some run support and Toronto was leading, 2-0.

That’s how you pick your pitcher up, especially after he shrugged off a line-drive with that velocity.
