Caitlin Clark is understandably the most talked about player in the WNBA, and as such, everyone wants to ask her questions.

Unfortunately, that means that her Indiana Fever teammates end up taking a backseat during press conferences.

However, after an 89-77 loss to the Seattle Storm earlier this week, Clark made sure that one of her teammates — Aliyah Boston — got to field some of the spotlight.

After fielding a range of questions, Clark asked the media to ask Boston a question.

“Ask Aliyah a question,” Clark said. 

“No, I’m good,” Boston said.

“Ask Aliyah a question.” 

The press did, and Boston answered them. This was a cool move from Clark who clearly understands how to handle the attention she’s getting while still thinking about how it’s affecting her teammates.

But on the other hand, maybe there was a chance Boston really didn’t want to answer questions and was in “I’m just here so I don’t get fined, mode.”

I mean, it reminds me of being in high school and college and not wanting to answer a question. You try your best to just blend in with the carpet and furniture, but every once in a while, someone — even if it was well-intentioned — completely blew up your spot.

“Thanks, dude, I was trying to get through this calculus class without having to do a derivative up on the whiteboard. I’ve been in this class for weeks and I still don’t even know what a derivative is!”

That could have been Boston, or — more likely — she was feeling like she was wasting her time sitting there while the press went gaga over Caitlin Clark.

It’s cool to see that despite all of the attention that Clark is getting, she hasn’t gotten an ego so huge that she couldn’t pick up on something like that. 

It was a very thoughtful move, and I’m sure Aliyah Boston and the rest of her teammates really appreciate that.
