Nobody was sure where Bronny James would go in the draft — some wondering if he’d be drafted at all. The 19-year-old guard played one season at USC, averaging 4.8 points per game and shooting 36% from the field, both very underwhelming numbers, but with the 55th overall pick it was the Los Angeles Lakers, his father’s squad, who took him off the board.

This was history in the making.

The first active father-son duo in NBA history, and they’re going to be playing for the same organization!

Pretty cool stuff if you ask me.

Here’s Bronny showing some humility in a pre-draft interview.

I see this coming season as a growing moment for both Bronny and his father. Listen, LeBron James is maybe the best to ever play the game, but his attitude over the past decade or so has been, simply put, negative. He’ll have to get his mind right and start acting like a winner again if he wants to teach his son how to survive in the NBA. That means less complaining to the refs, better sportsmanship, and taking on more of a leadership role. So look for LeBron to come out as a whole new man come October.

Also necessary to note, Bronny is likely to play in the D league (the minors) for a bit before joining the Lakers on the hardwood at Crypto.com Arena, and he could stay in the D League for the entire season for all we know. So we’ll have to wait until, let’s say, winter until this father-son duo — the king and the prince — take the court together.

Regardless, what a special moment this is for the sports world!

I can’t wait to see what these two can do together.

And LeBron, now that you’ve made history with your son, you think it’s time to retire in 2025?

You’re gettin’ old, bro!
