During another appearance on CNN, Newsom was asked a similar question, to which he responded, We gotta have this president’s back.”

Newsom continued, per Fox News:

“I would never turn my back on President Biden.”

“Never turn my back on President Biden.”

“I don’t know a Democrat in my party that would do so,” he added.

“And especially after tonight, we have his back,” Newsom said.

“We run, not the 90-yard dash. We are all in.”

“We’re going to double down in the next few months. We’re going to win this election,” he continued.

Regarding Biden’s debate performance, Newsom said he cared about “the substance.”

Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris echoed Newsom, insisting Biden was nothing if not strong on substance during the debate.

“Yes, there was a slow start, but it was a strong finish. And what became very clear through the course of the night is that Joe Biden is fighting on behalf of the American people, on substance, on policy, on performance, Joe Biden is extraordinarily strong.”
